What really in the end matters is that we are not hurting the field by making poor choices as paranormal investigators. We meaning ALL paranormal investigators need to really realize there are no experts in this field. Every investigation there is a chance of learning something new.
The Paranormal Investigation has come a long way sense it was first talked about. We started with pen and paper and analog recorders and cameras. Documenting everything debunking as much as we could. Then as a community we listened and learned from one another.
We faced ridicule head on and pushed forward. We smiled when a community of non believers turned their backs on us and basically said "your on your own". Because of the things we face it only made us stronger. Because of those things the Thrill Seekers die off and those who are in it for the right reasons are still here.
We as a community took the thoughts of others and flipped them and now there are studies in major university's, there are lectures being given at colleges and lecture halls, there are shows like Ghost Hunters. We have done what so many have thought was not possible we have intrigued skeptics and changed opinions. We have networked with people all over the world to further the research of the Paranormal, But above all others we have helped people and educated them in a time of need.
This has all been done without a certificate or a Class.. My opinion is this. If you want to take a class then please do so. If you think it is a great way to learn more then by all means if it helps you be a better investigator then I'm all for it. I have never taken a class and I have helped people all over Oregon and even in Idaho Understand theory behind what we do. I have helped kids sleep in their rooms and I have debunked my heart out to help a client understand that sometimes it is just mother nature making those Creaking sounds in their homes.
I'm happy knowing that I am helping the client and also finding ways to do things and helping test new equipment in the field. I do what I can and I am a sponge and hope to learn more from more seasoned people who have seen many things. But I am also happy when I come up with a new idea that a seasoned investigator finds useful. Really isn't that what its all about learning and helping people understand whats is going on in their homes?
I don't personally need a certificate in order to tell me that I am doing a good job. A hug from a happy client after a reveal and pat on the back from my fellow investigators after a job well done and a smile on a mom and father's face when their child is sleeping in a room that he hasn't slept in for months is enough for me to know I am doing what I need to for the field.
